AI for Climate Action: From Data to Impact

Organized by Climate Change AI and Google DeepMind

 Monday, September 23 from 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the way we act on climate change, across areas as diverse as energy, agriculture, biodiversity, and disaster response. However, fully realizing the potential of AI for climate action requires addressing critical gaps in data, capacity, and coordination. Join us to hear from innovators who are impactfully leveraging AI for climate action and from leaders in the space on what is needed to enable such work responsibly at scale. We will also discuss Climate Change AI and Google DeepMind’s work on assessing critical data gaps in the AI-for-climate space.

Monday, September 23

Glasshouse Chelsea at 545 W 25th Street, Floor 21, New York, NY 10001

Hosted by Climate Change AI and Google DeepMind

About the Organizers

Climate Change AI (CCAI) is a nonprofit that empowers a global community of innovators, practitioners, and decision-makers to accelerate responsible climate action through the use of AI, by addressing critical gaps in expertise, education, coordination, and research-to-deployment infrastructure. Since 2019, CCAI has inspired, informed, and connected thousands of stakeholders across the academic, private, and public sectors through networking and knowledge-sharing events, summer schools and other educational programs, international policy reports, and multi-million dollar global grants programs.

Google DeepMind is is a world-leading AI research lab with British heritage and an international team, committed to building AI responsibly, delivering scientific breakthroughs across impact areas including climate change, and creating products that improve billions of lives. The unit’s breakthroughs over the last decade include AlphaGo - the first computer program to defeat a Go world champion, AlphaFold - an AI system that predicts 3D models of protein structures enabling further scientific advancement, GraphCast- an AI model for faster and more accurate global weather forecasting, and Gemini, a family of versatile AI models built from the ground up for multimodality, seamlessly combining and understanding text, code, images, audio and video.
